Warm Cinnamon/Sugar Donuts.

A very rare treat at our house.  Made extra easy from Schwan's - place donuts in oven for 4-5 minutes, roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture, emjoy!!  They were very yummy.

This post brought to you by the number 2.

Near the SPCA there are a bunch of warehouses with interesting markings on them.  There are six doors marked on this building - I like this particular font.

A few minutes at the park.

Maddie and I were running all day today while Jordan enjoyed another fun day at camp.  After we picked her up from the bus, we stopped at the park.  You can tell by my flat hair and Jordan's pink cheeks that it was very humid and quite warm today - the temperature topped out at 102 degrees.

Another Mushroom Post.

Another grand mushroom standing in the neighbor's yard in the same place that the rest of them have appeared.  I think this makes the third in a series of neighbor's mushrooms.

Beautiful Sky.

This is what greeted us this morning as we turned out of the neighborhood to take Jordan to her bus.  She started her Technology Camp today.  She was one of seven students chosen to apply from her high school.  From there only two actually get the opportunity to attend.  She was honored to be chosen by her technology teacher to attend this all-expense-paid four-day camp.  This particular teacher also gave out only one technology award to the freshman class this year.  Any guesses who received it?

Busy crafting with duck tape.

The girls attended a duck tape wallet make-and-take last Thursday evening and have been creating wallets ever since.  They've made them for everyone - friends, cousins, stuffed animals . . .  Jordan ventured beyond the wallet and made the purple tote bag you see pictured.  Maybe she'll make a prom dress next.

Off to see the World Cup.

After a sleepover and several hours of play time, Amanda was off to South Africa.

Last day of school!!

Yay.  After a half-day of school we went to see Toy Story 3.  Jordan had already planned to see it with her friends - none of whom had to attend school due to great SOL scores - so I told Maddie to invite a friend and we'd go see it, too.  It was another great Disney/Pixar film!

Giant Mushrooms.

After every rain, these gargantuan mushrooms pop up in the neighbors yard.  I had to giggle as I watched Jordan photograph them this morning.  She was wearing a dress (for her last day of school) and still laid on the ground (don't forget - in the neighbors yard) to take several photos.

Fifth Grade Graduation.

Jordan worked tirelessly on a dvd to be shown at Maddie's graduation celebration today.  I collected, scanned, and snapped hundreds of photos and video taped teachers and staff over the last couple of weeks.  Jordan took all of that and made a fabulous 15 minute dvd (and then burned 100 copies).  It was a huge hit and now 93 students, their parents, and teachers are waiting for their copy - which I'll deliver to school tomorrow.

She had her backpack and lunch ready for her day at school.

Too tired.

After mowing the lawn in the 90 degree heat, she couldn't muster the strength to  properly drink her iced tea so she made her own "crazy" straw.

Flags.

While living in Minnesota, Illinois, and Nebraska the only flag I noticed flying was the American flag. Once we arrived in Texas I thought it was strange that they flew their state flag, too. Now in Virginia, there's the American flag, the state flag, and the county flag.

Personal Project.

Jordan's personal project requirement for IB 10th grade.  She's working with the kids making recycled art.  I can't wait to see how these projects look once completed.  The boys in the background are making a bank robber scene and the girls are making a town.  Another group is working on a robot named Rob who works at "The Fusion" (short for Pizza Fusion where these projects can be viewed in September).  The creativity in the room astounds me!

Wild Raspberries.

I found these in Harmony Park while I was waiting to photograph the fifth grade students for their "graduation" DVD.

Flowering Trees.

I don't know the name of this one but Maddie sure was impressed by the delicate blooms that covered this tree.

Not a great hiding place.

Apparently one of our chipmunks thinks a good place to hide his food is on a seat cushion under a pillow on our front porch.

Are we having fun yet?

It seems like she's been cleaning glue containers forever.

After the storm.

This pic beat out pictures of Jordan winning multiple awards this morning and her science fair expo this evening.

Strike a Pose.

Maddie titled this post and Jordan took the photo.  Can you see the ant on the flower?
