A girl and her cat.

Jordan and Jilly.  Where you find one, you'll find the other.

Have you ever seen anything like this?!

We had just pulled into the neighborhood after school and saw this cute little dog trotting down the street with orange booties on her feet and a diaper on her backside.  We couldn't NOT take a picture of it!

Sunflowers.

I couldn't pass up these beautiful sunflowers for sale at the elementary school EcoFest last Friday.

Autumn already??

I found this guy burying nuts in my planters.  Is he confused about the seasons?

Still More Spring Blooms.

Another unusual flowering shrub.  This one is at the playground.

More Spring Blooms.

These tiny bell-shaped flowers are all over one of the shrubs in our back yard forest area.

Melt Down.

This is what happens when big sister keeps snapping pictures of overly-tired little sister even though little sister told her to "STOP IT!"

Happy Earth Day!

Don't ask . . .

Rain, Rain, go away . . .

That little girl couldn't be any sweeter if she tried.

Aphids.

Jordan is really enjoying the blooming plants around her school campus.  She insisted Maddie and I see them, too.  Camera in hand, we walked the grounds of the school.  We found dogwoods, pink azaleas, white azaleas, and some enormous irises.  This is a petal of one of those beautiful irises.  I never did like those pesky aphids.

Dandelion.

I took lots of photos for my week in the life project, but didn't like any of them enough to use here.  Maddie decided to try her hand and this is one of two great shots she took.

Blue Skies.

The birds are singing outside my window, the temperature is in the mid-60s, and the skies look like this.

15.

Where did the last 15 years go?

Another from Jordan.

I'm still furiously working on my projects both due tomorrow.  Here's another view from Jordan.

Jordan's view.

I've been busy working on a project and didn't take a single picture today.  I sent Jordan out to find our photo of the day and this is one of the two good shots she took.  It's the view from the bottom of the stairs looking up at the ceiling.

Sportin' some new shades.

She calls these her geek glasses.

Fresh Baked.

I crossed another item off my list today.  It was surprisingly easy to make and tasted just as good as the bread we buy at Whole Foods in their Artisan Bread department.  I used Artisan Bread in Five Minutes to make this beauty and I should be able to produce three more loaves this week using the dough I mixed today and have stored in my refrigerator.  The bread is supposed to get better the longer it's stored (up to two weeks).

Bumper Crop.

I think we'll have a great crop this year.  I'll just have to make sure I get the bird netting on them soon.

Confidence.

I sure wish I had her confidence.

Tredegar Iron Works & Poe

We went back to Tredegar Iron Works today - this time with Jordan.  Our last visit was a class field trip where we didn't get to see any of the artifacts outside this building due to rain (and probably lack of interest of 100 fifth grade children).  Tredegar Iron Works began production in 1846.  They provided the Confederate Army with their ammunition during the Civil War.  They rebuilt after the big Richmond fire and finally closed their doors in 1957.  There is a great deal of history right here in this somewhat small area on the James River.  We spent the morning here and the afternoon at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum.

Wacky project.

This is our latest hand made "decoration".  Jordan calls it our paper aeroplane mo-bile.

Enjoying the Tot Lot.

The girls are enjoying a much needed break from school this week.  Today they spent a little bit of time at the neighborhood playground.  I am thankful Jordan took her camera with her - I didn't take any pictures today since I was way too busy with spring cleaning.

Just a misplaced flower.

Sometimes it seems like we have more weeds than grass in our lawn.  This doesn't bother me though.  I refuse to put weed killers and chemical fertilizers on my lawn because I am aware that too much of it will run off and get into the streams and rivers and do significant harm to the fish and wildlife living in and near those waters.

More sunshine

and a truck and a girl on roller skates.  Only Jordan skates around the neighborhood wearing a dress!!  Happy Easter.

The sun shining through.

This is another one of Jordan's beautiful pictures.  I love the way she captured the sun coming through the canopy of this willow tree.

April Fools!

The girls thought I was serving fish sticks and peas - they don't like either one of those foods.  They really had sugar creme cookies frosted with peanut butter and rolled in corn flakes with a side of airheads candy.  Their "sushi" for lunch was just as good.
