Jackpot! 31/365

Unfortunately both Circuit City stores near us are closing. The girls found several DS games, Pete got a Tiger Woods golf game for the Wii, and I picked up Enchanted. Now if only we could find Jordan's DS - it's been missing since her diagnosis day.

Why can't I get anything done in here? 30/365

Oh, now I see. This is why! The top of my craft room table hasn't seen the light of day since before Christmas.

Moses (or Jesus). 29/365

Moses reincarnated? Actually, I've been corrected - Jesus walked on water, Moses just parted the Red Sea. This picture didn't turn out quite as well as I wished it would have. Click on the photo for a better view. We drive past this pond everyday on our way to Jordan's school. Usually we enjoy the lemurs (er . . . I mean Canadian geese) gathered on the shores, but the last two days these seagulls have been showing off their unusual talent of walking on water. This made me laugh out loud, but my next thought was "what are seagulls doing this far inland?"

The Meltdown. 28/365

Maddie looked outside this morning at the trees in the back yard and said "WOW". They were so covered in ice that they were bent over. I took several pictures of the ice covered landscape and this was the picture that won the vote for posting on the 365 blog. This is an interesting "curly" willow tree that sits at the NW corner of our house. Seriously though, we want some snow!!

Snow Day? 27/365

We were very excited to see some snow falling this morning. Too bad it didn't accumulate. Jordan came home early (after her mid-term in Block E) from school sick. She slept most of the day until Maddie arrived home.

A quiet day at home playing board games.

Spa Day. 24/365

Today Jordan treated Maddie to a spa day and then Maddie treated Jordan. They were very "together" today. They even wore matching outfits - jeans, their Snoopy & Woodstock "Keep it Clean" shirt, a white sweater, and pearls.

Jumpin' Rope in January. 23/365

We had some great weather today - temps got to 60 degrees. As you can see, it was nice enough to play outside without jackets. I am glad it was Friday so the kids could enjoy it!!

Necessities. 22/365

This is really the only place to get the necessities. Today's necessities consisted of string cheese, graham crackers, peanut butter crackers, and juice. All of the items necessary to keep my new diabetic within a good glucose range.

Diagnosis. 20/365

Jordan was officially diagnosed today. She has Type I diabetes. She is a trooper, though, even giving herself her evening insulin injection.

Remember These? 19/365

I can't remember the last time I saw one of these. I didn't realize there were any of them left. When I pointed this one out to the girls, Jordan wondered if there were any more of them around that had the doors. When did she ever see one of those?

More Owls. 18/365

Jordan has been wanting to paint a mural on her wall since we moved in to this house last August. She finally began sketching her tree. While Jordan was working on hanging some pictures, Maddie added to the mural. This owl. It's a shame I waited until dark to take the photo. It sure would have looked a lot better.

Organized. 17/365

Today was the kids' turn to clean and organize. Jordan took care of her desk and Maddie to care of her nail polish. She even made a "key" with bottle numbers (which means she number labelled the bottles) and colors so that one would know what each polish would look like on ivory colored fingernails.

Friday Night Bowling. 16/365

Nicole has been coming home after school with Maddie every Friday since November. They usually play outside - wiffle ball, hide 'n seek, gymnastics, bike riding, etc. Today the temperatures were in the low teens. They wanted someone to pitch wiffle balls to them but neither Jordan nor I would venture out into the cold. Once Pete arrived home he said "no way" too. Wii baseball, tennis, and bowling is the next best thing!

Logistics. 15/365

This was going to be an interesting photo. We usually end up following behind dump trucks and various other work trucks on our drive to school. Today was different. We followed two logging trucks. Try taking a photo going 65 miles per hour down the highway while your subject is going at least ten miles faster than that. This is the result. Jordan was actually the photographer since I didn't think it a good idea to take my hands off of the steering wheel.

Today's blog title comes from a funny story "out of the mouths of babes". We're in the car and Jordan sees a truck with this word on it and asks "what is log-I-stics?" Oh, and one more thing, she was 13 when she asked this question.

Monkey'n Around. 14/365

I spent a great portion of my day organizing. I reorganized Maddie's whole closet which was quite an undertaking. She thinks jeans go in the drawer with the short-sleeved shirts. She also thinks jeans go in the drawer with the shorts and in the drawer with the sweaters. No wonder she always tells me she doesn't have any jeans. Not to mention she wears the same three shirts over and over again because she can't find the others underneath the jeans!! My other organization project was in Jordan's room. She had already organized her frog collection very nicely. Today I moved her monkey collection to the other side of the shelf from the frogs off of a table that was just taking up too much space in her too small room. Maybe now she won't feel so claustrophobic in there!

TV Time. 13/365

Every evening before bed we all gather in the media room to watch a little TV. Could be Leave it to Beaver, Bewitched, Dress My Nest, or 90210. Tonight it was America's Funniest Home Videos.

Chick-fil-a. 12/365

The girls wanted Chick-fil-a for dinner tonight. On our way to Kumon, Maddie pulled out her free meal coupon she was awarded at school for being caring thinking she could use it today. It turns out we have to go to the mall in order to redeem this one. I guess we'll use it another day.

Maddie's Taco Bar. 11/365

Maddie stepped in and prepared dinner tonight. She chopped lettuce and tomatoes and set the bar for easy taco preparation. Great stuff!

Its a good day! 9/365

"Mom, you know how you always say if you dress well, you feel good about yourself? Well, I really like what I am wearing today and I got a lot of compliments. I had a good day!"

We were promised sunshine today by our local meteorologist. I think I see it!!

It's boring at home. 7/365

She finally recovered yesterday afternoon. She said she didn't want to stay home another day. "It's boring at home" is what she told me. This is a pic of her coming into the house with the mail after school.

Tick Tock. 6/365

Just enough time to go to Target before we pick Jordan up from rehearsal.

Monday, January 5, 2009

Break's over. 5/365

Jordan headed back to school alone today. Madison stayed home sick with a stomach bug.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Hooo Hooo. 4/365

Thanks to Rachel and Shelby, we now have a fascination with owls. These earrings are Jordan's favorite pair.

A not-so-healthy start to the new year. 1/365

About five years ago we started a tradition of making puppy chow and 7-layer taco dip every January 1st. What a great start to the new year!
